Nikita and Nischal's Hyderabad Wedding by Ramit Batra
From the Photographer
Nikita and Nischal have been together for seven years and they decided to get married in winter '11, a 4-day destination wedding in Hyderabad – the city of the Nizams. Nikita is a Gujarati while Nischal a Marwari, their friends & family from all over the world – their wedding was a diverse, multi-cultural event, with everyone having fun at each and every ceremony and event. Although their roots go back to Hyderabad, having being away from the country and the city for such a long time - it was a big reunion for the friends & family alike.
Before all the fun began, the couple spent a relaxed day at the royal - Taj Falaknuma Palace, re-living the lifestyle of the royalty, from buggy rides to custom made breakfast to a detailed session about the life and times of the Nizams by a Historian. Soon after that, followed the marathon of parties, ceremonies & the big day. It started with a cocktail party - just for friends and youngsters in the lawns of Taj Deccan and a Musical evening for the elders. Curious adults did find their way to the cocktail party, only to be guided back to the musical by their son/daughter or neice/nephew. Next day was the Mehendi, with a very traditional Gujarati decor beautifully designed and crafted by the Bride's mother and sister. Followed by a superb evening of Dance performances, some pre-wedding rituals like tika and sagai - and more dancing till early morning. The grand finale was the Wedding day - starting with Sehra Bandee, Ghur Chadhai, Baraat & Tika at Taj Deccan - and the wedding party danced their way to the lawns at Taj Krishna for the beautiful wedding & reception dinner.
