Destination Weddings are only for the rich? Nah!
You may have a dream of having an opulent beach wedding and you may wonder if it is affordable? People have a prejudiced mindset when it comes to destination weddings! They think it's only for the elite class and a heavy pocket is essential to celebrate a destination wedding which is so not true.
Ram Chandra Jha, owner and director of Wedding Solutions, a Bangalore based wedding planning company says, "Destination weddings are not as exorbitant as you think. I can vouch through my experience that the average beach wedding expense in Goa or Kerala for a 2 day event is below five lakh, where as a single day ceremony in Bangalore and short reception at a banquet hall or hotel can be upwards of Rs 5 Lakh - money most couples would rather save".
Advantages of a destination wedding
So, you are bored of the never ending rituals that take place in your wedding? You just want to chill out and actually have fun in your wedding? Destination wedding is your option. These weddings can be as informal as informal can get. Although there are some rules that you will have to follow regarding times you will have a lot more opportunity to plan your day the way you want to. "Destination Weddings are not only cost effective but stress free as well, you do not have to follow conventions, this is one of the main reasons why destination weddings in India are getting increasingly popular", explains Ram Jha.
Destination weddings are meant to be smaller, romantic and intimate. When it is a destination wedding, the guest list tapers down and you save a lot of bucks there - Accommodation charges, food charges and the likes.
Talking about the décor, a destination wedding can save a lot of money on the flowers as you can use the scenery of the destination to create your backdrop.
Best Places in India for Destination Weddings
Destination weddings are reasonably priced, stunning and pleasurable for guests as they are for the couple. "From most popular destinations in Goa, Kerala and Rajasthan - to heritage sites in Karnataka, or even halfway around the country to Himalayas and Andaman Islands, the options are endless", Ram Jha suggests.
One of the biggest advantages of having a destination wedding is that you can have an early honeymoon! "Once the guests have left, it’s honeymoon period for the couple! Because they are already at their honeymoon destination, they can save on their travel expenses", says Mohan, a Bangalore based freelance wedding planner. Your honeymoon basically starts before your wedding with a destination wedding and you do not have to waste your valuable time travelling again!
