Getting to know your myShaadi.in Photographer: Nostalgia Photography
Continuing with our series of interviews with Candid Wedding Photographers listed on the myShaadi.in Gallery, we spoke to Seema and Pooja, a team of photographers who founded 'Nostalgia Photography' in Mumbai! Let's hear what they have to share about their journey as Wedding Photographers who left their careers to follow their passion!
myShaadi: Tell us a bit about yourself and your company
Seema & Pooja: Nostalgia was founded by both of us (Seema and Pooja) as we left other career opportunities in areas of management, to follow our passion and connect with Wedding Photography. We aim to achieve excellence with each wedding assignment and understand that every wedding is unique in nature and so are the wedding photographs. Our experience has led us to develop a style of photography that adapts to different cultures and yet brings out the best in every wedding.
The Nostalgia girls are well known for building that bond and making sure that those precious moments of your wedding are very well captured and some beautiful memories are frozen in time.
myShaadi: How did you get into wedding photography?
Seema & Pooja: Wedding photography was a planned choice for us both, we started with weddings in the family and friends fraternity, and lady luck has been in our favour since there has been no looking back since then. The Word of Mouth reference proved extremely powerful for us and we have enjoyed every wedding shoot experience and sometimes even learnt some wonderful life lessons.
myShaadi: What is your favorite part of the wedding day to capture?
Seema & Pooja: The Bride Getting Ready is one of our favourite parts of the wedding day. However planned or organised this may be, it takes you to the real emotions of the bride and her family, it allows you to click the real mood of the family and brings you closer to understanding your client and the families.
myShaadi: What is the most awkward moment you've experienced while on the job?
Seema & Pooja: When we reached at the groom's place, half an hour before the Baraat departure. just to find everyone sleeping!
myShaadi: What's the best thing you ever ate at a wedding?
Seema & Pooja: Simple South Indian food.
myShaadi: What is one of the most favorite venues you have a shot at and why?
Seema & Pooja: Our favorite venue has been the Hilton Hotel, simply because of the tasteful interiors and some amazing hospitality and cooperation from the hotel team, that has allowed us to make some lovely couple portraits for our pilot duo client.
myShaadi: Nikon or Canon?
Seema & Pooja: Canon all the way :)
myShaadi: What is your dream location to shoot a wedding?
Seema & Pooja: That would be a destination wedding in Thailand or Florence! Dream weddings!
myShaadi: What is the biggest lesson you've learned and would like to pass on to other budding candid wedding photographers?
Seema & Pooja: Our biggest lesson is to never go by any other photographer's word, experience or work blindly. Always build your relationships in the photographers fraternity. Always cooperate with your fellow photographers if any at a wedding. ALWAYS, have confidence and go by your own faith. Your very own experience will be your biggest teacher and those are lessons that you will never unlearn.
