Bridal Asia 2013 at The Ashok, New Delhi

The Wedding season is here! And the Capital city is all ready to take it by a storm! Multiple exhibitions are being organised all over the city & one can drop by to find everything they need for planning their dream wedding here. did a peek-a-boo at the recently held Bridal Asia Exhibition at the Ashok, New Delhi from 5th-7th October. Right at the entrance, one could spot sparkling Bridal Lehengas, Jewelry, Designer invitations, Gifting and the likes!

We spotted 'Shararas' as the most popular trend in Bridal Wear among several designers. This extravagant style of lehenga is back in vogue and looks best in bright peppy colours. We spoke to a designer at Kisneel by Pam Mehta and who said that "Shararas are perfect for several pre-wedding like 'Sufi Nights' which are becoming a rage these days. It can also be worn as an Engagement or Reception outfit by the bride and it looks very elegant."

The Colour Palette for the winter wedding season seemed all Bright! No dull colours were seen at the Designer displays. Oranges, Fuchsia Pinks, Parrot Greens, Peacock Blues dominated a variety of outfits. Floor touching Anarkali suits are still very much a favourite of designers and are still in fashion. Zardozi work and swarovski embellishments looked beautiful on the lehengas we saw at the exhibition.

For those looking for some offbeat clothing for their Engagement/Cocktail functions, we suggest you go for beautiful Gowns with touch of Indian work to give it a fusion feel. All top designers including Pam Mehta & Siddhartha Tytler have some beautiful cuts as part of their latest collection. You could go for fabrics such as Georgette, Net, Georgette Foil and Chiffon for that evening formal look.

We also visited Pakistani Designer, Honey Waqar's stall to see some very different designs displayed. We asked her what different ideas does she bring with her line of clothing and she said "Our USP lies in the fabrics we use. They are all pure fabrics with french embellishments. The variety is also huge in terms of cuts and styles."

Her Bridal Lehengas start from Rs.10,00,000 while the suits may start from anywhere between Rs. 50-60,000. Currently, Honey Waqar has no store in India but might be opening one up soon.
